If the outlet in my bathroom does not work, what should I do?
The first step is to check and see if the bathroom outlet is a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) receptacle – a GFI receptacle will have a “test” and “reset” button. You will have two scenarios:
- If it is a GFI receptacle press the “test” button followed by the “reset” button. If this does not work, you will need to reset the breaker at your electrical panel.
- If it is not a GFT receptacle, go to the other bathrooms in the house until you find a GFI receptacle and press “test” and “reset on them. On most older houses and some newer homes the bathroom receptacles are connected – this is not a safety concern, but it can become a nuisance.
